SGIB Magazine was in da house on March 6, at the Nuyorican poets Café, in NYC, when the hottest and the most talented female artists run the stage and rock the mic with Women In Music, as part of a month-long celebration during Women’s History Month.
Women In Music focuses on new and emerging female artists of a variety of music genres from Latin to Hip-Hop. The hypnotic Kristin Mainhart & DJ Sabine did there thang and holding it all down the red-hot Cherry Martinez, heating up the airwaves on POWER 105.1 NYC’s #1 radio station for Hip-Hop & R&B, well known on air personality in major cities ranging from New York to Boston to Los Angeles.
At the left of the college is Kristin Mainhart & her band Andrew Fork, Steven Jaden and Rubin Troy. Kristin a vocalist whose prodigious talent at the mike is equaled only by her striking ability as a songwriter. Combining lyrics stripped down to their emotional core with a tremendous vocal range Kristin is a force to be reckon with and you can take that to the bank!
At the right of the college is DJ Sabine her main influences are her spirit guides, ancestors, and warrior womyn. Her ear for music soothes the inmate part of all that honors the sounds of drums, the power of words and the healing affect of conjuring up pure positive feeling and emotion the was witnessed through her dance troop with free style moves in a tag team pattern.

The Links, Incorporated Eastern Shore Chapter Presented “An Afternoon of Creative Expressions” featuring Young African American Artists.

On Sunday April 25, 2004 at the Suffolk County Community College Western Campus “An Afternoon of Creative Expressions featuring Young African American Artists” sponsored by The Eastern Shore Chapter of Links Incorporated under the leadership of Rachel Lee Davis, the chartering president. The Links, Incorporated was organized in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on November 9, 1946, by Margaret Hawkins and Sarah Strickland Scott. The organization links, friendship and resources to form a chain of strength to improve the quality of life for African American citizens. The Links, Inc. implements programs that foster cultural appreciation, though the arts; develops richer inter-group relationship; and helps Links member to understand and to accept their social and civic responsibilities. The membership comprises approximately 10,000 women with 270 chapters located in 40 states, the District of Columbia, Nassau, Bahamas and Frankfurt, Germany. The Links Program Facets are: National Trends and Service, International Trends and Services, Service to Youth and The Arts. The mission of The Arts is to help empower artists to be an integral part of global art; to continue development of appreciation and support of the arts among members and to encourage the interest and involvement of youth in cultural and artistic activities; to assist the youth in developing their artistic talents in the performing arts, the visual arts and literary expression. And oh what a show! Other support came for Fleet Bank, Raymond Reardon, Technical Specialist of The Van Nostrand Theater, Link Joan Johnson, President of Eastern Shore Chapter Joanne Braxton, Executive Dean, Suffolk Country Community College Western Campus, Stilwyn Perry Brown, Easter Shore Chapter Members, The Arts Committee and big ups to the parents doing the right thing.
