Pattern Packets

Pattern packets designed by Jean Zawicki WILL NOT, and HAVE NOT appeared in any of her books. Teachers may run a copy of "THE PATTERN PORTION ONLY" for each student without additional charge. PLEASE refrain from handing out copies of the text portions of the packets. All pattern hand-outs MUST CONTAIN THE NAME of the design originator AND the packet name and number.

Each packet will contain written instructions for the project, detailed line drawing and one or more photographs as needed.

Although there are many Santa projects, you will also find snowmen, accent furniture, birds, animals, flowers and fruit among the offerings. From 1978 to 2000 I had a booth at the National Tole & Decorative Painting Convention, so numerous "new" packets were created each year. I've now "retired from conventions" and moved to Florida. I'd now like to create "less" packets, but make them MORE SPECIAL! MANY of us have a vast storehouse of "goodies" stashed away. I would like to take some of these collectables and create a packet that will show the "unique" item and also the same design on something more currently available. That way, if you have something similar in your collection you can duplicate the project on "the unique surface" OR just paint it on something you buy or already have on hand.

Since I will be doing predominantly Santas and snowmen in my books due to popular demand, I would like to create designs for these more unique surfaces that would be more surface appropriate. NOT EVERYTHING lends itself to Santa, especially some of the "old stuff" I've collected over the years at yard sales and antique shops!

If you like this idea, I hope you'll send a letter or e-mail and let me know. I ALWAYS love hearing what other decorative painters think about what I'm doing . . . good AND maybe not so good! It gets a little lonely painting here in my closet, so I appreciate any input you might have. I can't promise I'll use it, but if you have a request or idea for a book OR packet project, I'd love to hear about it!
