VILLAGE SILVERSMITH
Cleaning Silver Jewelry
Cleaning Jewelry with Stones
We recommend using a silver cream or anti-tarnish polish to remove oxidation from silver. The brand that we have found to be one of the best is Wright's. Wright's can be found at your local grocery or hardware store, the Village Silversmith (coming soon) or by clicking on the link below.
The majority of stones will not be harmed by Wright's silver cream. However one should avoid prolonged exposure of any organic stones to chemicals, including bleach.
The following organic stones should be cleaned with a mild soap and warm water;
*Turquoise
*Coral
*Pearls
*Amber
To clean silver with Wright's;
1) Wet Jewelry with warm water
2) Apply cream with provided sponge, removing tarnish
3) Once tarnish is removed, rinse silver with warm water
4) Dry with soft cloth or towel
Remember, all metals should be kept away from chlorine and bleach; this includes swimming pools!
Toothpaste is great for cleaning your teeth! NOT YOUR JEWELRY!
Toothpastes may contain baking soda and other abasive agents that are too abrasive for fine silver!
