We’d like to acquaint you with our philosophy of pet care. The Animal Hospital has a reputation for quality and consideration for your pet and you, the owner. We understand that we’re taking care of an important member of your family. Here are some of the elements which we feel sets The Animal Hospital apart.

Consideration for the Patient

We know that a trip to the veterinarian may not be a pleasant experience for your pet, and we’ll do everything we can to keep your pet from being “stressed out.” Some of the ways we try to reduce the stress are listed below.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of medical problems is done on an outpatient basis; we rarely require that your pet stay overnight. Your pet will recover more quickly in familiar, comfortable surroundings. The minimum number of visits to correct medical problems are scheduled.
  • If your pet requires surgery, you will have a specific appointment. We ask you to stay with your pet until it is anesthetized; your pet will avoid being kenneled and stressed. Under no circumstances will we put your pet in a kennel for our convenience. Our primary concern is doing what’s best for your pet.
  • The surgical recovery area is situated to allow us to keep your pet in plain view to ensure that creature comforts are attended to.
  • Discharge is generally the same day as surgery, allowing your pet to recover in familiar surroundings. Any special care you may have to provide will be explained until you are comfortable that you can take care of your pet.

    Outside Professional Services

Resources for the care of your pet are not limited to those provided directly at The Animal Hospital. Anyone providing services for us is carefully screened.
  • We will use specialists for consultation and direct patient care when appropriate. We work with them to ensure that your pet receives the very best care and treatment.
  • We use outside labs for most diagnostic tests. Quality labs provide more consistent and accurate results.
  • We do not offer boarding or grooming services; this allows us to focus exclusively on pets who require medical care. We also feel that boarding and grooming result in a chaotic environment which is detrimental to a pet who is undergoing treatment.

    Emphasis on Education

The owner is the most important member of the health care team. We take the time to ensure you know how to care for your pet.
  • Starting with the first visit with your pet, we’ll help you make sure that your pet becomes a well behaved member of the family.
  • During an office visit, you’ll be given specific instructions regarding care for the immediate problem. You’ll learn how to treat it, and how to avoid it in the future. If medication is required, we’ll show you how to administer it. If the problem is chronic, we’ll help you manage it to enhance your pet’s quality of life.

    Consideration for Owners

The competence of The Animal Hospital’s staff is strengthened by a progressive continuing education program. Our program is comprised of courses through veterinary associations, in-house training, and private study.

The pet’s needs can only be met when we meet the needs of the owners. We will attempt to work with you in every instance, though we ask for your understanding when emergencies come up. Always remember your pet will receive the same immediate attention if necessary.

You’ll be told of all reasonable options, with our recommendation based upon our experience. The owner niay decide to pursue other options, but that decision can he made with full and complete information. Treatment begins only when the owner is in agreement with the course of action.

    Cost of Care

Our clients are able to maintain the health of their pets at a moderate cost. The average medical cost per dog per year is compiled by the American Kennel Club; The Animal Hospital’s fees are one third less than AKC’s national average. The average cost per cat per year is compile by the Cat Fancier’s Association, and ou fees are close to the national average. Ou health care program is founded upon prevention.

    Our Staff

Staff is selected on the basis of technical skills and their love for animals. Staf members are also Animal Hospital eli ents, so they understand the mission am the philosophy of care. Each one realize~ that a pet is dependent upon us, the humans, for care, so the pet’s needs com first.
