Stinson L-5 Club Webpage Header

For Owners, Pilots and Enthusiasts of the Stinson L-5 "Sentinel"

Welcome!

(Returning visitors scroll to bottom for latest announcements)

Welcome to the Sentinel Owners and Pilots Association home page. Our organization provides information and support to owners, pilots and enthusiasts of the Stinson L-5 "Sentinel", also affectionally called the "Flying Jeep" and sometimes known by the designations O-62, OY-1, OY-2 and U-19. The L-5 is a true "warbird" that was manufactured for the USAAF by the Stinson Division of the Consolidated-Vultee Aircraft Corporation from December 1942 through the end of 1945. There are currently about 140 examples of this venerable plane flying in the world today and more are being restored every year.

All interested individuals are invited to join the club. Our goal is to share information, restore and preserve aircraft, and raise public awareness about these unsung heroes of WWII and the Korean conflict. If you have any questions about the L-5 or you would like to share your own knowledge, experience or photos of these rugged old warbirds, click the CONTACT US button for ways that you can get in touch with the SOPA. If you would like to become a member of our organization, click the JOIN button to the left, print the form, fill it out and mail it in with a check made out to the SOPA.

If you are thinking of purchasing an L-5 then you may wish to click the "IS L-5 OWNERSHIP FOR ME?" button to the left. It may help answer some of your basic questions. You may find the "L-5 FAQ's" helpful as well, and be sure to stop back often to check the "CLASSIFIEDS" page for new listings.

We hope you enjoy your visit! Be sure to bookmark this page so you can find your way back. Feel free to add a link to us on your own website if you have one.
