WHAT IS REIKI? Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word representing universal life energy, the energy that is all around us. It is specific form of the healing art of the “laying on of hands”. It is a gently and safe way to bring the body, mind and spirit into balance. The Usui Reiki system works with energy most of us do not see, some of us feel, and is real. It requires no particular belief system and is not a religion.

HOW CAN REIKI ASSIST ME? The Reiki Practitioner is a channel for energy, therefore is not “doing” the healing. Reiki works as an adjunct to medical and non-medical treatment and psychotherapy. It can assist people with the process of withdrawal from various substances or processes (alcohol, drug, food, sex). The clients “openness” to receiving the energy determines the progress made in the healing process. Reiki can often relieve pain and acute symptoms while more long-term problems may require extensive treatment. Length of treatment depends upon the root cause of the problem and how much time and energy it takes to assist the re-balancing of the body’s systems. Minimally, those receiving Reiki often report feelings of deep relaxation and a sense of nurturance and well being.

RECEIVING A REIKI TREATMENT - A Reiki treatment is safe, non-intrusive and non-manipulative. The recipient stays fully clothed. Reiki can be applied to any part that has been injured either “hands on” or “hands off”. During a full Reiki treatment, the practitioner directs the healing energy to areas of the head; front of the body; and the back of the body. Emphasis is given to the major organs of the body; but every cell benefits. Reiki penetrates bandages, casts and clothes.
