 Pencil Post BedThe Pencil post bed was the first truly American version of the poster bed. The textile hangings used on these original beds were often among the owners most valuable possessions. In home with few separate bedrooms, the hangings were closed around the sleepers for privacy and warmth. As will all the beds we make, this one incorporates 7" wood side rails to accommodate and conceal the modern box spring. This bed is shown in Tiger Maple, one of our specialities. The fine wood is hand scraped not sanded, to bring out the beautiful grain.
