Cannonball & Bell BedThe cannonball symbol became popular in America in the later 18th Century as a proud representation of the coloies victory in the Revolutionary War. Not only was it a patriotic statement, it conveyed the sturdiness and strenght of the armor on which it was based. These low post beds were usually made of Maple or Birch, native woods that were plentiful, strong and good for carving. It remains a classic and very popular form for beds.
We use the original joinery techniques of mortise and tenon for strenght. Our cannonball bed is made of Maple and available in either traditional Maple or Cherry finished.,
For unexpect guests, there is a matching trundle bed. It is visible under the left bed.
The headposts are 56" high, footposts only 50". The top of the rail is 19".
