General practice
experience since 1985 covering the following areas of law: criminal misdemeanors and
traffic, domestic relations, bankruptcy law, with a concentration in
workers' compensation law.

- Appointed by the U.S. Department of Justice,
United States Trustees Office, as United States Bankruptcy Trustee for
the panel of the Northern District of Illinois, County of Cook. Designated
presiding officer at Section 341 meetings having authority to
examine debtors under oath regarding their assets and liabilities,
schedules and Statement of Affairs, financial background and any matter
related to their Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition. Duties included collecting
and reducing to money the property of the estate and closing the estate as
expeditiously as was compatible with the best interests of the parties
while providing the court and the US Trustees' Office with information
concerning the progress of an estate's administration.
- Experienced at administrative hearings and
trial practice before the Illinois Industrial Commission on behalf of
petitioners and insurance companies. Maintained ongoing dialog with
insurance clients regarding overall defense strategy and case handling,
formation of agreed to litigation plans, settlement evaluation and case
disposition. Issued periodic comprehensive reports and "opinion" letters
for insurance clients addressing substantive and procedural issues. For
workers, developed focused and strategically sound legal arguments on
issues concerning venue, notice, causal connection, employer/employee
relationship, interim benefits and disability evaluation. Also experienced
in medical depositions, motions for penalties, statement of exceptions,
judicial reviews in the circuit court, legal briefs, and oral arguments
before the Industrial Commission and circuit courts.
- Excellent time management skills. Experience
includes simultaneously handling hundreds of worker's
compensation defense and petitioner's files, while adhering to strict and
individualized reporting requirements for insurance clients.
- Skilled negotiator with judges, arbitrators,
clients, opposing counsel, and insurance companies.
- Active in community educational programs.
