  • Flint River Ranch Cat & Kitten Food is made with the same great ingredients that is in all of their pet foods. Nothing has been spared with the quality ingredients, blending and the oven-baking manufacturing process. The premium quality chicken, lamb, fish, whole ground grains, cheese, lecithin, vitamins and minerals, along with Flint River's tender loving care synergistically provides the very finest diet for your cat or kitten.

Like all of Flint River's pet food, the Cat and Kitten Food is baked under carefully controlled conditions and proper temperatures - resulting in better nutrition, palatability, and digestibility. The secret to good nutrition is not how many nutrients are present in the food, but rather how available they are and how efficiently they can be utilized when digested. Flint River's unique baking process changes the hard to digest molecules of "raw" starches into easily assimilated dextrines. This process acts as a "pre-digest" of the kibble food, resulting in less strain on the digestive system and produces a greater degree of food absorbtion. High digestion means your pet requires less food and produces smaller, firmer stools and less clean-up.

Made with the finest "HUMAN GRADE" ingredients, this all natural cat food is the ultimate in premium nutrition, made with the same wholesome, fresh ingredients that you would feed your family. Your cat stays healthy and active with Flint River's superior formula without any suppliments or adjustments. You have Flint River's guarantee that their ingredients formula is "fixed" and will never be substituted or compromised. It's stated on every bag!

Flint River's meat sources do not contain by-products such as feet, feathers, heads, beaks, hides, hoofs, and intestines or rendered-products such as '4-D' animals (dead, diseased, dying, disabled), animal waste, road kill, or euthanized animals. The use of low quality products and chemical preservatives may be associated with dry skin, allergic reactions, dental disease, poor health, and degenerative organ dysfunction.

  • Human-Grade Fat Source has No Ethoxyquin
  • Chicken Meal - the Highest Grade for Taurine
  • Naturally Preserved with Vitamin E
  • Promotes Low Urinary PH
  • Helps Prevent F.U.S.
  • Low Levels of Both Ash and Magnesium
  • Proteins Help Promote Acidic Urine
  • Better Nutrition, Palatability, and Digestion

  • There is ample scientific evidence that proper nutrition and correct eating habits can enhance health, performance and longevity. Society is starting to understand that the over processing and chemical additives which add color and texture can destroy much of the nutritional value of both human and pet foods.
    • PROTEIN: The amino acids provided by the Chicken and Lamb Meal are the basic building blocks of muscle, skin, coat, bone, blood and the immune system. The most important ingredient in a cat's diet is protein.

    • ESSENTIAL TAURINE: The high quality Chicken Meal provides Taurine, an essential amino acid for cats, at much higher levels than the poultry by-products used in most cat foods. It is important for eyes, heart, nervous and reproductive systems.

    • FATS: The human-grade fat source has no Ethoxyquin .... it is naturally presevered with Vitamin E. Fats provide energy and include essentials for cell structure, hormones, enzymes and fat soluble vitamins.

    • BEET PULP: Beet pulp is by far the best source of fiber. It does a better job of moving the nutrients through the digestive systems and acts as a calming base for forming the stool in the colon. Vitamins, minerals, and nutrients are first digested in the stomach, then absorbed into the blood through the intestinal walls. If those walls are covered with slime and mucus, absorbtion of these life-sustaining nutrients is reduced. Beet pulp gently massages intestinal walls, removing the mucus and aids in the bowl movement.

    • FELINE UROLOGICAL SYNDROME (F.U.S.): There is little doubt that F.U.S. is directly related to the cat's stress, life style, and diet. Low Ash and Magnesium are important in the prevention of F.U.S. Flint River Ranch Feline Formula has less than 4.5% ash content and 0.08% of Magnesium. This promotes low urinary PH and helps prevent F.U.S.

WHAT YOU FEED YOUR FELINE WILL BE THE ONE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT
DECISION YOU WILL EVER MAKE ABOUT THEIR HEALTH.

    FEEDING GUIDE:

Cats are finicky eaters. Tests show that besides flavor and aroma, texture and shape are very important in determining cat food palatability. Cats first smell their food. If it passes this test, shape then becomes important because it determines the way it feels and breaks apart in the cat's mouth.

The price of the cat food, like other products, most often depend on the grade and quality. Flint River Ranch cat food will actually be cheaper to feed than other foods costing less. You will be able to see the difference in your cat's healthy skin, coat, and energy level. Healthy nutrition can also mean less medical bills. Flint River Ranch believes that your cat deserves the best possible food and health.
    • KITTENS: Young kittens may be started on Flint River Ranch by mixing the food with a little warm water. Feed food dry as soon as the kitten's teeth are strong enough to chew the hard food (8 - 10 weeks). Feed kittens about 3 times a day - after 6 months about twice a day.

    • ADULT CATS: Adult cats (1 year) can be fed once or twice a day. This depends upon what keeps your cat happy. Your cat should be looking for food when the next meal is due. Teach them to eat at meal times. The amount your cat eats in 15 - 20 minutes is about the amount they should be fed at that meal. Adjust the food as you notice increasin or decrease in the animal's weight.

Any new food is best introduced by mixing it with your current pet food for approximately one week and allowing for slow assimilation. When introducing a new diet, mix the new food with your cat's usual food and slowly increase the amount of the new food over several days. A sudden change in any food source may be a shock to your pet's digestive system. You may notice loose stool. If so, reduce the amount of new food being introduced until your pet adjusts.

Always have plenty of fresh water available for your cat.

    DEFINITIONS

    Feline Urological Syndrome (FUS)
FUS refers to problems associated with the cat's bladder and urethra in particular. The urethra is the tube carrying urine from the bladder to the outside. This problem is primarily seen in neutered males and cats with an alkaline urine. This has arisen with the advent of the commercial cat foods containing less animal products and more plant products. The normal carnivores' diet produces an acid urine and the wild and ancestral cats were not neutered.

These problems usually involve cystitis and/or bladder stones and/or urethral plugs. Cystitis is inflammation of the walls of the bladder and stones are accumulations of mineral crystals. Signs often seen will be no urination, difficulty or pain in passing urine, increased frequency of urination and discoloured urine. The condition is most commonly seen in the neutered male, but can occur in the female and intact male. back

    Taurine: (tôr'ēn')
Taurine is an amino acid required by cats but not dogs. There are two reasons for this. First, the liver of the cat has a limited ability to make taurine. Second, cats lose taurine in the secretion of bile acids. In cats, taurine is indispensable for the formation of biliary salts, that are necessary for the good digestion of fats in the small intestine. Contrary to other species, the cat cannot use another amino-acid other than taurine for this function. The cat relies on its dietary intake of taurine. This is an example of the cat's dependance towards animal ingredients, because taurine is not found in vegetable ingredients.

Found in the nervous system (including the retina) and muscles (especially the heart), taurine is one of the most abundant amino acids in the body (and is the most abundant free amino acid in the heart). It is thought to help regulate heartbeat, maintain cell membranes, and affect the release of neurotransmitters in the brain. Taurine also protects the heart from calcium overload and assists in calcium uptake by the heart cells during periods of hypoxia (reduced oxygen levels).

This taurine supplementation is not done in dog food. It is one of the reasons that explain why we must not feed a cat with a dog food for any length of time. back
