SERVING DOGS IN OUR COMMUNITY FOR OVER 10 YEARS
DOGGIE DAYCARE
Doggie Daycare was at first believed to be a passing fancy of the 'rich and famous'. It has, however, turned out to be a godsend for working dog owners of any class. Doggie Daycare is a trend that is growing around the country because it meets the needs of so many dog owners and their dogs. The simple concept has been met with overwhelming gratitude on the part of frustrated dog owners, who may have had to keep a dog crated at home all day, with only a quick mid-day respite by a neighborhood dog-walker.
The guiding principle of Doggie Daycare is simple - provide a safe and healthy atmosphere with lots of interaction, both with other dogs and with people. Since dogs are social animals and enjoy being part of the pack, a social setting like doggie daycare is ideal for them.
Doggie Daycare is exactly what it sounds like - a 'day'care for dogs. They are normally dropped-off in the morning by their owners and retrieved after work in the late afternoon. Dogs can participate in group play, gnaw on a favorite toy, hang out with the humans, or just lounge on a futon and watch TV. The point is that they're not at home by themselves.
Daycare isn't just fun and games, although that's definitely a priority. The dogs' days are also structured around naptime and doggie protocol. Playtime will always be supervised and time-outs given when necessary for those who don't comply with the rules.
Dogs accepted into the program will be segregated by size, temperament, and social skills into groups that will be rotated through several play areas in a day's time. One of those areas will be an outside play area, another will be a naptime area, and another an area where they can watch the cars go by, lounge on beds, play with their favorite toy, or watch Animal Planet on TV. At Animal House, dogs will have access to a fenced play yard with 6 and 8 foot fencing around the entire yard. The yard is divided into separate play areas and all exterior perimeter gates to the fence are locked at all times.
WHO WOULD BENEFIT?
For the dog who:
- Has separation anxiety.
- Barks and barks and barks all day.
- Has lots of energy.
- Likes to throw wild parties.
- Is social and enjoys being around others.
For the family who:
- Wants quality 'cuddle time' in the evening.
- Wants their dog to have fun!
- Treats their dog like a member of the family.
- Works long hours and is unable to provide physical or mental stimulation for their pet.
- Wants to have the dog out of the house when the maintenance, repair, or cleaning person arrives.
REQUIREMENTS.
Animal House & Company, Inc. will require that a dog (and owner) meet a series of criteria. The owner and dog will be required to schedule an informal interview to determine the pet's obedience skills and behavior assessment. During the interview, all questions will be answered and a tour of our facility will be given. There is a $12.00 fee for the interview. Before the first day of daycare, a standard contract must be signed by the owner and the Animal House MUST have a copy of the dog's vaccines.
The dog must be:
- Altered (if over 6 months of age).
- Current on vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella). (We are open to discussion on this subject.) Please bring a copy of the vaccines to the interview.
- Be on a flea prevention program.
- Be in overall good health.
- Have good social skills and know basic obedience.
NOTE: You MUST schedule an appointment. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM STOPPING BY WITHOUT ONE. Oft times, we cannot be distracted from our duties. Thank you for your understanding.
