Love of animals is a universal impulse, a common ground on which all of us may meet. By loving and understanding animals, perhaps we humans shall come to understand each other. - Dr. Louis J. Camuti -

DAISY MAE DUKE Cocker/Beagle x, F/sp, DOB 12/03/04 | DAISY MAE NEEDS AN OPERATION | | (Updated 06/08/09) Daisy & I started our ‘rehab’ today … 10 minutes on level ground at a brisk pace, twice daily. Daisy was exhausted and I felt the weight coming off.
(Updated 06/05/09) Miss Daisy was to see her vet, Dr. Clements, on Thursday. As I expected, he chastised her for taking out all of her stitches on day 9 post surgery. Daisy has a mind of her own and SHE decided it was time for the stitches to come out. And yes, she was wearing an e-collar (Elizabethan Collar) but she managed to get it off one evening after ‘lights out’. Imagine my surprise when I saw the e-collar on the dog bed the morning after with no Daisy attached. Well, she received a lecture from me which appeared to go unheeded. In any case, Dr. Clements gave us a rehab schedule to follow and he wanted to see Daisy back in about 6 weeks. I needed to lose a few pounds so it’s off to rehab with Miss Daisy!
(Updated 05/18/09) Daisy Mae had her ACL surgery today & came thru with flying colors. "She was very much the lady", according to Dr. Clements, who performed the surgery. Now it's 6 to 8 weeks of rest and rehabilitation for the little girl. But like the way she handled her surgery, we expect her to take this like a lady too.
(Posted 4/30/09) Daisy is a foster dog who has been with the Animal House since 03/21/09. She currently has a torn ACL (knee ligament) that the vet says must be repaired if she is to keep the mobility of the leg.
The operation is expected to cost almost a thousand dollars!
